The Pump House and Water Tower within the Carnegie Steel Company’s Works is the site of the1892 Battle of Homestead.  Wage negotiations ended with a lockout of the workers and resulted in a battle with Pinkerton detectives.  This battle is considered the most important event in the history of the American worker.
